13 Mutation Ties

The lobby sky rotates through short weather bursts that change how your garden grows and what your crops sell for. Timers are tight — a two-minute Starfall is gone before you finish a shop run if you are not already standing on your plot.

The lobby rotates through a fixed day cycle before random weather bursts hit. Day runs about seven and a half minutes, sunset lasts thirty seconds, and night lasts two minutes with stealing enabled. Four mutation events — Blood Moon, Gold Moon, Rainbow Moon, and Aurora Borealis — only appear after dark.

Day cycle

PhaseDurationWhat changes
Day7m 30sDefault sky cycle — crops grow at normal speed. Stealing is restricted compared to night.
Sunset30sShort dusk transition before night. Finish harvesting or lock your plot before the steal window opens.
Night2mDark sky — stealing is enabled and night-only weather events can spawn. Defend ripe crops or risk Raccoon runs.

Event priority when skies stack

  • Keep high-value fruit on the vine before Blood Moon, Starfall, or Lightning — short timers punish AFK harvests.
  • Use Rain as setup weather. Double growth pushes more crops into the ripe window before the next mutation storm lands.
  • Night procs need defense. A 40× Aurora haul left unguarded is an open invitation for Raccoon runs — see pets and crates for counter picks.
  • Check the HUD icon. Do not guess from sky color alone when Pizza, Chained, and rarer bursts look similar at a glance.

All sky events

Mutation-linked rows only roll while that weather is live. Fruit already growing uses the fruit column on the mutations page; crops planted mid-event use the lower plant column.

Night skies

After the dusk alert, ripe plots become steal targets — but three weather types only spawn in the dark. If you are chasing Bloodlit or free Rainbow Seeds, plan a night session instead of only logging in at noon.

Special seeds

Three seed pickups only appear during matching moon weather. Gold and Rainbow seeds plant a random shop crop with the mutation baked in; Mega Seed grows an oversized crop — see the plants database for the Mega Seed crop entry and the mutations page for payout multipliers.

Per-event notes

Short action layer only: what to do, what setup converts best, and the mistake that wastes the window.

Rain

Stack slow Epic grows before the clouds roll in — you get double speed on everything already planted, plus dead crops come back.

  • Do now: Fill empty plots before the cloud ends so slow crops catch the 2x growth window.
  • Best setup: Long-grow or expensive crops already planted and still maturing.
  • Avoid: Waiting until rain starts to choose seeds, which wastes most of the timer.

Lightning

Highest sell swing in the table when it lands. Keep ripe fruit on the vine; logging off mid-storm wastes the five-minute window.

  • Do now: Leave ripe fruit on the vine and harvest after the storm finishes rolling procs.
  • Best setup: Mature multi-harvest crops already sitting ready before Lightning starts.
  • Avoid: Selling the moment the sky changes instead of letting active fruit roll Electric.

Rainbow

Worth running single-harvest seeds you were saving. The arc also hands out a Rainbow Carpet for the duration — grab it before harvesting.

  • Do now: Keep your best fruit planted and collect the temporary mobility item before selling.
  • Best setup: High-value mature crops plus spare inventory space for the event pickup.
  • Avoid: Treating Rainbow like pure flavor and missing both the proc window and free carpet.

Snowfall

Shorter than rain or lightning. If you see frost forming, finish planting fast — the blizzard window is under three minutes.

  • Do now: Finish planting quickly, then stop harvesting so more fruit can catch Frozen.
  • Best setup: Ripe crops already on-plant because Snowfall is shorter than the 5-minute storms.
  • Avoid: Starting a big shop run during Snowfall and missing most of the short proc window.

Starfall

Rare enough that you should treat every star shower like a jackpot roll. Night or day, leave sellable crops in the ground.

  • Do now: Pause sells and let valuable fruit sit through the full shower.
  • Best setup: Heavy crops already mature with enough defense to survive a night overlap.
  • Avoid: Harvesting between star waves because the event feels cosmetic.

Blood Moon

Only fires after dark. Bloodlit pays 70× when it sticks — pair with a night session instead of hoping it overlaps your lunch break.

  • Do now: Guard the plot and hold ripe crops until the Blood Moon window closes.
  • Best setup: Night defense ready, high-value mature fruit, and no need to leave the server.
  • Avoid: Chasing steals instead of protecting your own 70x roll chance.

Gold Moon

Pick up every golden seed you see; they can sprout any rarity with Gold baked in. Midas thieves should line up a fat target before the buff fades.

  • Do now: Grab every seed spawn first, then decide whether to plant or use the steal buff.
  • Best setup: Open map mobility and enough seed slots to store random Gold plants.
  • Avoid: Ignoring ground spawns while focusing only on your current harvest.

Rainbow Moon

Rainbow Seeds work like a free shop restock — hold E on each spawn. Star-Powered steals are a separate payout path from garden procs.

  • Do now: Sweep the map for seeds before returning to defend or harvest.
  • Best setup: Fast movement plus a plot that can wait two minutes without urgent selling.
  • Avoid: Standing on the farm the whole time and missing free guaranteed Rainbow seeds.

Aurora Borealis

Added with the late-June patch. Aurora pays 40× when it sticks — watch for green-purple skies after dark and keep ripe fruit planted.

  • Do now: Keep premium fruit planted, stay home, and sell only after the aurora ends.
  • Best setup: Late-game crops already mature with anti-theft tools active.
  • Avoid: Treating Aurora like a pretty night instead of a short 40x farm window.

Mega Moon

  • Do now: Drop everything and do a fast map sweep for pickups before the event ends.
  • Best setup: Light inventory load and a route that hits the whole map quickly.
  • Avoid: Assuming Mega Seeds come from shops later and skipping the live event.

Pizza

Low multiplier, but the sky is unmistakable. Fine for filling empty plots when nothing rarer is active.

  • Do now: Use it only if your plot is already ready; do not reorganize the whole farm for a 5x tag.
  • Best setup: Spare ripe crops that would otherwise be sold plain.
  • Avoid: Overcommitting expensive crops to a low-multiplier event.

Chained

Low-tier payout at 8×. Still beats selling plain crops if you already have plants maturing when chains appear.

  • Do now: Take the free upgrade on existing fruit, but save serious setup for better weather.
  • Best setup: Mid-tier crops already nearing maturity.
  • Avoid: Burning consumables chasing an 8x event like it is top-tier weather.

Solar Flare

Daytime sky burst that can roll Solarflare on ripe crops — camp the window like other short mutation storms.

  • Do now: Treat it as a bonus roll on existing fruit, not a reason to delay core progression.
  • Best setup: Ready fruit already on-plant before the sky changes.
  • Avoid: Writing a full sell plan around a not-fully-live mutation.

Sunburst

Daytime orange-yellow sky. Ignited pays 60× when it sticks — keep ripe fruit on the vine for the short burst.

  • Do now: Hold valuable fruit for the burst, then cash out quickly once the window closes.
  • Best setup: Strong daytime crop lineup with no urgent need to leave the server.
  • Avoid: Selling into plain daytime minutes right before Sunburst hits.

Eclipse

On-demand window from harvesting an Eclipse Bloom. Eclipsed pays 80× when it sticks — merge Sun Bloom + Moon Bloom first, then open the window over ripe premium fruit.

  • Do now: Open the window when high-value fruit is already ripe, then harvest through the full two minutes.
  • Best setup: An Eclipse Bloom ready to harvest plus a plot of premium multi-harvest crops waiting for the proc.
  • Avoid: Merging Sun Bloom + Moon Bloom into Eclipse Bloom with nothing valuable left to roll during the window.

Before the sky changes

  • Keep fruit on the plant. Empty plots cannot roll. Harvesting early clears the proc chance for that grow cycle.
  • Sprinklers before storms. More crops hitting the ripe window during a five-minute Lightning beat planting mid-event every time.
  • Watch the corner icon. The HUD tells you what is active — do not guess from sky color alone when Pizza and Chained look similar to rarer bursts.
  • Defend night procs. A Bloodlit or Electric haul left unguarded is an invitation for Raccoon runs — see pets and crates for defense picks.

FAQ

How do I know which weather is active?
Check the icon in the top-right corner of the screen. Hover it for the event name and a quick summary of what the sky is doing to your garden.
Do weather events only happen at night?
Most roll anytime — Rain, Lightning, Rainbow, Snowfall, Starfall, Pizza, Chained, Sunburst, and Solar Flare are not locked to night. Blood Moon, Gold Moon, Rainbow Moon, and Aurora Borealis require a dark sky.
How long do weather events last?
Rain, Lightning, and Rainbow run about five minutes. Snowfall lasts roughly two and a half minutes; Starfall, Gold Moon, Rainbow Moon, and Aurora Borealis sit around two. Shorter bursts mean you need crops ready before the sky changes.
Can I get mutations without weather?
Gold and Rainbow Seeds guarantee their tag on plant. Gold Moon and Rainbow Moon scatter those seeds across the map. Everything else in the mutation table needs the matching sky event — see the mutations page for fruit vs plant odds.
What is the best weather for money?
Lightning and Starfall swing big single-harvest numbers when a proc lands. Blood Moon and Aurora Borealis are the top night options. Rain does not mutate crops but doubles growth — use it to push more fruit into the next storm.
Does Rain help with mutations?
Not directly. Rain speeds growth and revives dead plants, which means more crops reach the ripening window before Lightning or Starfall starts. Think of it as setup weather, not payout weather.
